Coaching Aston Villa, Steven Gerrard Gets a Message from Jurgen Klopp

DBasia.news – Steven Gerrard’s decision to accept the proposal of Aston Villa made a Jurgen Klopp react. He provided a challenge for the Liverpool legend.

Gerrard has officially become the new manager of Villa. He replaced the sacked Dean Smith.

Villa’s decision to choose Gerrard certainly cannot be separated from his actions with Glasgow Rangers. The Gers did bring the Scottish League champions unbeaten last season.

Villa certainly hopes that Gerrard’s cold hand will return to work with them. Although this is the first time for the 41-year-old man to have a career in the Premier League.

Klopp feels happy Gerrard can have a career in the Premier League. He prayed for the former Liverpool captain to achieve success.

But on the other hand, Klopp’s competitive spirit also emerged. He couldn’t wait to collide with Gerrard’s tactics.

“In a few weeks, we will face each other. I messaged him (Gerrard) clearly and we had some conversations,” Klopp told the club’s official website.

“From now on I will watch Aston Villa games a little bit more closely. During the 95 minutes of the game all sentiments will have to be put aside, that’s how it is.”

Klopp indirectly provides an open challenge. The German man seemed to want to test Gerrard’s eligibility to be his successor at Liverpool.

On several occasions Klopp did mention Gerrard as his ideal replacement at Liverpool. This is expected to materialize in the next few seasons.

“With a club as big as Aston Villa, I can imagine he’s really excited about it. I’m really looking forward to it,” Klopp concluded.
