Conor Gallagher Can’t Play at Wembley, Wright Condemns FA’s Unfair Rules

DBasia.news – Arsenal legend Ian Wright says the rules are unfair to Conor Gallagher as he will not be able to play for Crystal Palace against parent club Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Eagles managed to secure a place in the semifinals thanks to a 4-0 win over Everton and they will meet the Blues at Wembley next month.

Conor Gallagher is currently on a season-long loan at Crystal Palace and has missed two games against his parent club in the league this season due to Premier League rules. Those two matches ended in defeat for the Eagles.

Unfortunately, Palace had to lose their most influential player again when they met Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals. The FA’s rules state, “The Association will not grant a loan player permission or work experience to play against a loan club.”

Ian Wright, who won the FA Cup twice with Arsenal, said the rules would leave Gallagher feeling “devastated”.

“If you let a player go early in the season, then yes, he is your player,” Wright said on his podcast, Wrighty’s House.

“To Conor Gallagher who went to Palace and brought them to that level. He is one of the main reasons they can do what they are doing now.”

“He helped get them to the semi-finals at Wembley which is the dream of all of us as professionals and he won’t be able to play because his parent club is there. There’s something unfair about that. I would be devastated if I were in his position.”

Gallagher himself has recorded eight goals and five assists in 30 appearances for the Eagles this season. It was this performance that later earned him a call to Gareth Southgate’s newest squad.
