Cristian Romero Just One More Step to Tottenham Hotspur
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Cristian Romero bids farewell to Atalanta. He is one step away from joining Tottenham Hotspur.
Romero is one step away from leaving Atalanta for Tottenham Hotspur. The Argentine centre-back has already undergone a medical in Italy to immediately fly to England to complete his move to The Lilywhites, Friday (6/8/2021) England time.
Spurs reportedly had to spend 50 million euros plus 5 million euros in bonuses to penetrate Romero from La Dea. Tottenham were attracted to Romero after the 23-year-old performed well in Serie A last season.
Romero appeared in 31 matches in Serie A 2020/2021, contributing two goals and three assists. He helped Atalanta finish in third place in the Italian League last season.
The Cordoba-born player has also said goodbye to Atalanta. He revealed that his decision to leave Atalanta was purely to look for new challenges for the development of his career.
“I want to thank Atalanta and assure them that they have one more supportive fan from London,” said Cristian Romero, quoted by Sky Sport Italia.
“Tottenham wanted me from day one, now I have to pay for that on the pitch. I love the project there is for me and this is why I chose Tottenham.”
“I am happy to have made a new choice, I am also very happy for the year I spent in Bergamo. I am sorry to have left, but I have to think about my career and hope it is a good decision. I have to keep improving.”
If his transfer to Tottenham goes smoothly, Romero will become the second most expensive player for the north London team after Tanguy Ndombele, who was bought from Olympique Lyon, for 60 million euros. Romero will also reunite with Pierluigi Gollini at Tottenham later. Gollini also joined Spurs from Atalanta this summer.
