DBasia.news – Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer responded to the criticism that came from his former team-mate Paul Scholes.
Solskjaer revealed the reasons why he often changed Manchester United’s tactics. It was Solskjaer’s preference for changing tactics that received criticism from Scholes.
Scholes assessed that in the Solskjaer era, especially this season, MU did not have a balance between defense and attack. It all depends on the formation used by Solskjaer.
Throughout this season, Solskjaer has often used several formations. Not only a 4-2-3-1 mainstay pattern, but also several Red Devils playing with three defenders.
When defeated by RB Leipzig 3-2, Solskjaer used a three-defender system. Furthermore, the Red Devils returned to their flagship system when dealing with Manchester City. At that time Solskjaer put Paul Pogba on the left side of United’s midfield.
“What formation change, you tell me? It’s 4-2-3-1 and that’s probably Paul’s favorite position. He is doing well and the team form as usual,” said Solksjaer in response to a question about Pogba’s position.
Solskjaer also explained that he did not change the formation scheme too often. Even if it is changed, the team will still play with the same strategy.
“We beat PSG and lost to Leipzig, we played one full game with diamond tactics and two and a half games with diamonds,” he said
“Four of the 22 games are not bad for consistency of normal form. That’s what we do more or less every day. Some details will change but in the same system,” explained Solskjaer.
