DBasia.news – Phil Neville has just been appointed coach of Inter Miami, club owner, David Beckham is trying to bring in two superstars in the world of football, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The Manchester United and Real Madrid legend wants Inter Miami to be competitive in the second season of MLS (Major League Soccer). Inter Miami previously recruited two players from Juventus, Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuain.

Beckham has not stop dreaming and hopes to add a marquee player to his squad (non-US players). Of course a transfer of that caliber won’t happen any time soon.

“I think the fans will really appreciate it. However, as owners, we want players here who are motivated, want to win, and that’s our priority,” said Beckham as quoted from Goal.

“With Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo, these are players who we feel would add to the luxury of this club. Going forward, we also want to bring in other players if we have the opportunity to bring in some great names, clearly mentioning Leo and Cristiano.”

“They are at the top of their game for the last 15 years because of hard work. Sir Alex Ferguson is an expert in that. “

“He doesn’t always bring in the best players in the world. He doesn’t always sign top players. He purchases the right players for the club. And I think that’s the one thing I bring to our club, whether that player has to be right,” added Beckham.

The potential for Messi and Ronaldo to play in America

Given all the personal successes and trophies that have been won by Ronaldo and Messi over the past decade, America (in this case MLS) could be the last destination for both of them before retiring.

Ronaldo is 36 years old and Messi is 33 years old, their successors have started to appear in a new generation. It is possible for Messi and Ronaldo to retire after playing in MLS which incidentally is also the league of former European stars who are entering their old age.

“I always say that I have the impression that I want to enjoy the experience of life in the United States, life in the league and that life, but whether that happens or not, I don’t know,” Messi said in December 2020.

Even so with Ronaldo when talking about MLS to his compatriot Luis Nani.

“Several years ago, he (Ronaldo) told me that he might end up in America. Not 100%, but maybe. There is a possibility,” stated Nani in June 2020.
