DBasia.news – West Ham United coach, David Moyes, indirectly mocked Jose Mourinho after bringing his team to a draw against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, Sunday (18/10/20).
In a match that took place at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, the hosts seemed to be winning easily. Son Heung-Min scored in the first minute. The situation got even more difficult after Harry Kane added another two goals within 16 minutes.
The score did not change until normal time, eight minutes in. But that’s when the drama and magic were created.
Fabian Balbuena’s header in the 82nd minute was still considered a West Ham consolation goal. Likewise with the own goal by Davinson Sanchez three minutes later.
Manuel Lanzini’s spectacular streak in injury time finally showed West Ham’s comeback is real. No wonder the goal was greeted emotionally by the Hammers squad.
Interestingly, David Moyes as West Ham manager did not overreact. He only celebrated the goals by jumping and punching the air.
Regarding the celebration, Moyes tried to subtly mock Jose Mourinho. He admitted that he did not want to follow in the footsteps of the Portuguese manager, who slid on his knee to celebrate the goal.
“I’m not going to slide on the touchline on my knees because that’s been done before,” Moyes told Sky Sports.
Mourinho is known as one of the most expressive managers. He did not hesitate to run off the bench to celebrate the winning goal scored by his team.
Even so, Moyes did not want to talk further regarding the celebration. He prefers to comment on the appearance of Manuel Lanzini and his colleagues who were considered worthy of bringing home one point.
“The team’s conversation at half time were actually challenging as we were 3-0 down but I think we played well. Except for the opening five or 10 minutes,” he added.
“As a manager, it is difficult to be proud, but I have to say tonight was a proud moment to be the team manager. How well we played, how well they maintained it and never gave up.”
