DBasia.news – Juan Mata is one of the names that will leave Manchester United this season. The Spaniard has played for United for eight years since signing David Moyes in January 2014.
During his time at Manchester United, Mata won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League titles after previously winning the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup with Chelsea. Mata was also a part of the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Cup success with the Spanish national team.
However, with age and intense competition in the United squad, Mata’s playing time has decreased and in the last two seasons he has only made 30 appearances.
Mata’s compatriot, David De Gea, also bid farewell in a touching message to Juan Mata. De Gea sees Mata as more than just a team-mate but also a good person.
“I thought this would be a challenging thing to put into words, but when I think about it further, the main feeling that remains is happiness,” De Gea wrote in a lengthy Instagram post.
“This man has become my team-mate, friend and family. The best professional, one of the best players and the people you can have to decorate your life.”
“I’m so grateful to have traveled so much with you, glad that our paths crossed, and we share a common changing room.”
“I love you, my brother, I wish you everything and nothing but joy and success in the next stage of your incredible career,” concluded De Gea.
