De Gea’s Status in Man United Depends on Mourinho

David De Gea

DBasia.news – Manchester United main goalkeeper David De Gea hasn’t renewed his contract with The Red Devils. Mirror reported De Gea would renew it if Jose Mourinho leaves Old Trafford.

Essentially, Manchester United are rumored activated the renewal clause of De Gea for 12 months until 2020. It means The Red Devils won’t lose the player freely during the 2019 summer transfer market.

But, Manchester United feel that the contract isn’t enough. The Red Devils want to add a couple more years considering that he is one of the world’s best goalkeepers.

Unfortunately, Manchester United’s intention was stumbled upon De Gea’s request. The Spain national team goalkeeper wants to make sure Jose Mourinho stays in The Red Devils next season before signing the new contract.

The situation puts Manchester United in a difficult situation. Man United feel the one-year contract won’t ensure De Gea’s future in Old Trafford. But, on the other hand, The Red Devils can’t guarantee that Mourinho stays until the next season.

Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho’s future in Manchester United is uncertain. The Portuguese manager is considered failed to bring Paul Pogba and friends to perform consistently. Currently, Man United are 14 points behind the leader, Manchester City.

Mourinho and Manchester United are getting more distant after the manager’s request to recruit some new players last summer was not fulfilled hence the weak defensive line.
