DBasia.news – Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich thinks Dean Henderson will shift De Gea’s position as The Red Devils main goalkeeper.
Henderson returned to Old Trafford last week after impressing during his two seasons on loan at Sheffield United. Henderson confirmed his commitment to Manchester United by signing a contract that runs until 2025.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper’s contract extension has prompted speculation about the future of David De Gea. The Spanish goalkeeper is said to be in danger of losing his position as the number one goalkeeper, given his declining performance over time.
De Gea has always been the Red Devils’ first choice in goal. But recently De Gea has received frequent criticism following his declining performance. Meanwhile, demands for Manchester United to repatriate Dean Henderson were strong. And now Henderson is back.
“Whether it’s at the start of the season or not, I think some time in this season Henderson will take over from De Gea. In fact, Henderson is tied to a long-term contract. He is definitely part of the club’s future plans,” said Bosnich, who has spent two seasons with United.
“I believe Dean Henderson will take over, unless De Gea looks absolutely fantastic.”
“But if De Gea continues to perform below his best, Dean Henderson will replace him,” Bosnich stressed.
