DBasia.news – In the 2022-2023 season, Declan Rice will carry out his new duties as captain at West Ham United.
It’s no secret that Rice has been targeted by big clubs. Manchester United and Chelsea are the two clubs who are most interested in him.
But both clubs seem to have buried their hopes of signing Rice. The high price set by West Ham is the main reason.
West Ham are still reluctant to lose their best asset. 100 million pounds was also set for Rice in order to scare off interested clubs.
The London club have even appointed Rice as the new captain. He replaces the role of Mark Noble who retired.
Rice did not deny that transfer rumors had disturbed his focus. But he has now confirmed his determination to continue strengthening West Ham.
“I’ve always said that until something actually happens there’s no point in talking about anything because I’m a West Ham player. I have a contract with West Ham and I will always respect that,” Rice told Sky Sports.
“I know that I will be captain of West Ham this season, I know it’s an honour.”
Staying at West Ham is not a bad choice for Rice. This could make him keep his chances of representing the England national team at the 2022 World Cup.
Rice’s opportunity to appear in the big event could be disrupted if she moved to a big team. He is not certain to immediately set up as when strengthening West Ham.
“I never once complained. Every time I wear this jersey, I go out on the pitch and give one hundred per cent and whatever happens off the pitch will happen by itself.”
