DBasia.news – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta does not want to blame his players after being defeated 1-3 by Liverpool on Tuesday (29/9). He also did not want to bring up the golden opportunity that Alexandre Lacazette had thrown away. Arteta admitted that it was difficult to win at the Reds headquarters, Anfield Stadium.
Lacazette became a central player for the Gunners for scoring the opener early in the first half. Meanwhile, three Reds players, Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota listed their names on the scoreboard to ensure full points for the hosts.
“Of course he (Lacazette) has a golden opportunity to equalize to 2-2. He made us strong and the match was interesting,” Arteta said as reported by Sky Sports, Tuesday (29/9).
Arteta appreciated Lacazette’s attitude who looked annoyed when his team fell behind. He wants other players to imitate Lacazette to feel the same way when the team has to come home with a defeat.
“This place (Anfield) is difficult to beat. They are a strong team, we tried to survive most of the game.”
Liverpool’s win extends a 61-match unbeaten run at Anfield for Juergen Klopp’s side. They only need two more games to match the 1978-1981 record.
“Winning first, we should have been able to withstand the situation better. But we conceded so quickly,” he added.
“They want to win and this is the quality. The opposing players go to all areas to chase victory,” he concluded.
