Defeating RB Leipzig, PSG Qualified for the Champions League Final for the First Time

DBasia.news – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) put on a brilliant performance when they defeated RB Leipzig in the semifinals of the 2019-2020 Champions League with a score of 3-0, Wednesday (19/8). The victory also ensured that Les Parisiens advance to the Champions League final.

PSG immediately threatened the Leipzig goal when the game entered the sixth minute. Unfortunately Neymar’s cheat that took advantage of Kylian Mbappe’s bait only hit the goalpost.

Seven minutes later, PSG finally broke the deadlock. Angel Di Maria’s cross from the free-kick scheme was able to be headed by Marquinhos into the Leipzig goal without Peter Gulacsi being able to anticipate it.

After falling behind, Leipzig played more attacking. This made the match interesting because PSG also took care of it.

Leipzig almost equalized in the 25th minute on a counter-attacking scheme. However, Yussuf Poulsen’s strike to welcome Dani Olmo’s mature pass was just wide of Sergio Rico’s PSG goal.

Ten minutes later, it was PSG’s turn to have a golden opportunity. This time, Neymar’s free kick from distance only hit the post.

A Gulacsi blunder in throwing the ball in the 42nd minute finally made the Leipzig goal conceded again. This time it was Di Maria who listed his name on the scoreboard through a shot from close range.

The 2-0 score for PSG’s superiority lasted until the break. Thomas Tuchel’s team are on top.

In the second half, Leipzig tried to make a number of changes. Julian Nagelsmann put Emil Forsberg and Patrik Schick to add to the banging power.

Leipzig immediately took the initiative to attack in order to catch up. A number of opportunities were obtained by the German representative.

However, it was PSG who successfully stole a goal to widen the lead to 3-0. Juan Bernat broke into the Leipzig goal with a header in the 56th minute.

Being left far enough away does not make Leipzig discouraged. Die Bullen continued to try to attack the PSG defense to at least reduce the position.

Several opportunities for Leipzig from long-distance kicks had threatened PSG’s goal. But Sergio Rico’s alacrity in goal made it all in vain.

PSG finally managed to defend their victory until the match ended and advanced to the top party. This is the first time in their history to appear in a European competition final.
