Defeating Utrecht, Vitesse Occupies the Third Place of the Eredivisie

DBasia.news – Vitesse managed to move up to third in the Eredivisie standings after winning with a score of 2-1 against Utrecht, in the ninth week of the Dutch League which took place early Sunday morning Western Indonesian Time.
Entertaining FC Utrecht at the GelreDome Stadium, Vitesse excelled quickly through a goal scored by Max Clark after nine minutes, the official Dutch League website said.
However, the advantage was lost when Adam Maher scored from a long-range shot that failed to be anticipated by goalkeeper Remko Pasveer in the 38th minute.
Luckily, Matavz’s team successfully restored Vitesse’s advantage in the 68th minute utilizing a pass from Clark and the 2-1 score lasted until the fight was over.
Vitesse now ranks third in the standings with 20 points, although its position is not safe considering AZ Alkmaar (19) just competed on Sunday night.
While Utrecht (14) fell to sixth place, jumped over by Sparta (15) who won 2-1 over its guests Twente at the Het Kasteel Stadium.
After a draw in the first half, Sparta opened the scoring three minutes after halftime through Halil Dervisoglu but it only lasted a moment because three minutes later, Twente equalized through Calvin Verdonk.
Sparta got the advantage when Twente was forced to finish the match with 10 players following a red card for Juli Pleguezuelo in the 84th minute following a foul on Dervisoglu issued by the referee following a long consultation with VAR.
The advantage of the number of players able to be put to good use by Sparta to restore their advantage through goals from Bryan Smeets in the 88th minute. As a result of that defeat, Twente (12) slipped to 11th.
Heracles and Heerenveen won
In an earlier match, Heracles Almelo managed to get a 2-0 win over FC Emmen at the Erve Asito Stadium.
Cyriel Dessers’ goal was accompanied by an own goal by Keziah Veendorp to support Heracles’ victory which climbed to seventh with 14 points, while Emmen (7) dropped to 15th.
While other matches played later, SC Heerenveen also posted a 1-0 win over PEC Zwolle thanks to a mere goal by Mitchell van Bergen.
The win made Heerenveen rise to ninth with a collection of 13 points, while PEC (7) despite losing also moved up to 14th place because they benefited from other matches.
