Dembele Confirmed Absent for Six Months

DBasia.news –  Ousmane Dembele is said to have ended the season earlier.  Barcelona ensures Dembele will be absent for six months for the recovery process after undergoing surgery.

 Dembele suffered a hamstring injury when Barcelona faced Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on November 27 last.  Since then, the 22-year-old has not yet returned to playing.

 In the recovery period, Dembele actually injured again.  His hamstring returned to trouble when he attended a training session in early February.

 The examination results showed that the hamstring on Dembele’s right thigh was torn.  He also had to go up the operating table.

 Dembele finally underwent surgery in Finland on Tuesday (02/11/2020) local time.  The operation was successful, Dembele said it took six months to recover.

 “Dembele has successfully undergone surgery in Turku, Finland, where he was operated on by Doctor Lasse Lempainen for a damaged tendon in the hamstring of his right thigh. The French player will be absent for about 6 months,” the Barcelona statement said as reported by Sky Sports.

 In addition to the season ending early, Dembele also will not be able to strengthen the French national team at the European Cup 2020. France will begin its work at the European Cup on June 16 against Germany.

 This season Dembele has only performed nine times in all competitions.  Since being recruited by Barcelona from Dortmund in August 2017, Dembele has appeared 74 times in all competitions and scored 19 goals.
