Despite Successful Recruiting De Jong, Barcelona’s Financial Strength Is Not As Great As PSG and Man City

Frenkie de Jong

DBasia.news –  Despite having successfully recruited hot commodities for the player transfer market, Frenkie de Jong, from Ajax Amsterdam, FC Barcelona still feels inferior financially when compared to PSG and Manchester City. That was revealed by Jordi Mestre, Deputy President of Barca.

De Jong is one of the hot commodities presented in the transfer market. Still young and has a qualified quality, making De Jong a target for a number of European elite clubs. Before officially anchored to Barca, De Jong was tempted by offers from PSG and Man City.

Mestre judged, if De Jong thought about money, then the player clearly would not choose Barca. According to Mestre, Barca could not compete with PSG and Man City regarding to financial matters. Therefore, Barca tried to attract De Jong’s attention in another way. In the end, Barca also successfully got the signature of the Dutch national team’s future player with a dowry of 86 million euros (Rp1.37 trillion).

“We know De Jong is a very popular player, there are many clubs who want to attract him, the same goes for Jean-Clair Todibo, and in Barcelona we cannot compete financially with clubs like Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City. We have to convince players in a different way, “explained Mestre, quoted from the Football Association, Tuesday (2/5/2019).

“Although De Jong told us that he always wanted to play in Barcelona, it was true that offers from other clubs made him doubtful, that was natural, he was just an ordinary human. If only for money, De Jong would not join Barcelona. Then we will lose the battle, “he continued.
