Despite the Minimum Playing Time, Draxler Insisted to Stay in PSG

DBasia.news – Julian Draxler’s transfer from Vfl Wolfsburg to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the January 2017 transfer market was one of the trending news at that time. No wonder, he was speculated as one of the future wingers of Germany for his impressive performance in Bundesliga with Die Wolfe and when he was still wearing the FC Schalke 04 jersey.

But after one and a half season, Draxler hasn’t shown the expected performance. The 24-year-old player often sits on the bench of PSG. No wonder that his future in Parc Des Princes is uncertain.

The arrival of Germany new coach, Thomas Tuchel this summer didn’t give a significant impact to him. In four matches of PSG in the Ligue 1 this season, Draxler just involved in three matches as the substitute player. Apparently, Tuchel chose Angel Di Maria to fill the left winger position.

“The situation at Paris is indeed very tough,” Draxler said.

“The competition is high, especially in my position. In Kylian (Mbappe) and Neymar, the two best players in the world play there – or at least, in my opinion, they will be the best in the future. I saw no reason to run away [in the summer]. The situation simply had not changed and I made 47, 48 appearances last season.”

The experience made Draxler decided to stay in PSG. Moreover, his contract is still available until 2021. The Germany national team player is optimists that he will get the chance to hit the pitch just like the previous season.
