DBasia.news – Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa admits he can’t wait to build the sharpest attacking partnership with Luis Suarez after winning 6-1 against Granada in the LaLiga match on Sunday (27/9).
“We are very lucky to have Luis Suarez. I can not understand why Barccelona can let him go,” Costa said as quoted by Reuters.
Costa opened the scoring for Atletico with a header and was replaced by Suarez in the second half. The player from Uruguay immediately scored two goals in the last 20 minutes of the match.
“He is excellent, one of us can fight and the other can bite,” Costa said jokingly, recalling Suarez’s famous bite against Italian Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup.
Costa believes his team’s fortunes will grow thanks to bringing in Suarez, who scored 198 goals in six seasons with Barca.
“He will help us score many goals apart from his fighting spirit and his thirst for winning trophies. I hope he can help us win another trophy for our fans,” said Costa.
Costa led Atletico to win the league in 2014 but has struggled to do well since returning from Chelsea in 2018.
“I’ve spoken to the club and the coach and told them I am ready to go if they think I have to go. But if I stay I want to try hard to play. The important thing is to be ready and score goals.”
