DBasia.news – Diego Costa is currently injured and will only return to the field next year. However, Flamengo even approached Atletico Madrid to ask for his hand.
The former Chelsea player has never played in his home country since he flew to Europe when he was young. However, now, the 31-year-old player is reportedly open to moving.
Flamengo himself has opened discussions with the Atletico Madrid forward after they identified Costa as their main target in finding a replacement for Gabriel Barbosa, or who is familiarly called Gabigol.
Barbosa has now scored 31 goals in 38 matches for the Brazilian club, when they won the double title, namely in the league and Copa Libertadores. Gabigol also led Flamengo to win the Libertadores final through two goals.
Barbosa has been loaned by Flamengo from Inter Milan, and they look forward to signing the player on a permanent contract. However, the name Diego Costa appears as an alternative player they will bring if they fail to permanently keep Gabigol.
Costa’s contract at Atletico Madrid at the moment is still running until June 2021.
