Italy, a country which was badly affected by COVID-19, has already passed the peak of its pandemic. However, quarantine is still on until May 3rd.

There was good news coming from the development of the situation related to sports. The Italian Minister of Sports, Vincenzo Spadafora, hoped that Serie A players can return to training after the quarantine of the region is lifted.

“The next few weeks will be very important to understand the evolution of the health care situation, and how, if and when we can return to playing sports at all levels,” Spadafora said, as reported by Italian Football.

“We hope to confirm May 4 to return to training as soon as possible. I hope we can stick to that date, even if it is only for training behind closed rooms.”

“At the moment, our only concern is the health and safety of the general public,” he said.

The Serie A competition itself has been suspended since early March. Currently, debates still arise regarding the decision to continue the league or not.
