DBasia.news – The English Football Federation (FA) officially sanctioned a four-match ban against Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Eric Dier. The sentence was the aftermath of his dispute with the supporters of The Lilywhites.
The incident occurred in March when Tottenham were knocked out of the FA Cup due to being defeated by Norwich City on penalties. After the match, Dier approached a supporter of his team in the stands and almost fought before being separated by security forces.
Dier’s emotion ignited after the supporter threw insults at his sibling. At that moment, his family was present directly at the stadium.
The FA issued an official decision related to Dier’s sanction. The English football federation had previously heard the player’s defense.
“Eric Dier has been suspended for four matches with direct effects and fined £ 40,000 and warnings regarding his future behavior following violations of FA E3 rules,” the FA statement stated.
Dier did admit that his actions were wrong. But he refused to be said to pose a threat to the perpetrators.
Unfortunately the defense was rejected by the FA. Their investigation concluded that Dier had posed a threat.
“The independent regulatory commission later found Eric Dier’s actions to be a threat.”
Although these violations occured at the FA Cup, Dier’s judgment will apply in all FA competitions. That means Dier will miss four Premier League matches, including when Tottenham plays the North London Derby against Arsenal this weekend.
