DBasia.news – Liverpool will reward Divock Origi with a new contract after the Belgian became a hero of the Reds’ revival of Barcelona and proved himself to Jurgen Klopp.
Origi arrived on Merseyside in 2014 as a high-prospect player after appearing impressively with the Belgian national team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Origi returned to his former club Lille on loan, but never became the Reds’ goal scorer and after several seasons back at Anfield he was loaned out to Bundesliga club, Wolfsburg.
With his contract coming to an end in Liverpool and still having difficulty getting a chance to play in the first team, Origi almost left the club in January amid the emergence of interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton, Crystal Palace and clubs outside of England.
Klopp has been impressed with the work ethic of the 24-year-old player and his willingness to continue to improve when he has recently been played more often than Daniel Sturridge and Xherdan Shaqiri in the main squad.
He helped Liverpool qualify for the Champions League final when his club played without Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino because of injuries, Origi scored twice and occupied the Barcelona defense throughout the night.
