Gianluigi Donnarumma

DBasia.news – Despite the retirement of Gianluigi Buffon from Italy national team and left the Serie A, it doesn’t mean the Pizza country are running out of great goalkeepers. In fact, there is a young and promising goalkeeper from the domestic level.

Let’s say the popular talent like Gianluigi Donnarumma (AC Milan) to the under-the-radar talent like Alessi Cragno (Cagliari Calcio). Both Donnarumma and Cragno shared their place in Gli Azzurri squad during the UEFA Nations League last week.

Bila Gigio was trusted as the main goalkeeper by coach Robert Mancini, while Cragno has to be satisfied sitting on the bench. But, don’t get mistaken, being called-up to the senior national team is a great honor for the 24-year-old player with portiere talent.

Moreover, both goalkeepers have their own talents. Donnarumma with his great physical body, while Cragno is more clever with through his explosive acts. He is also experienced, 5 years from Donnarumma. In the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, Cragno led Azzurrini throughout the qualification round, but coach Luigi Di Biagio chose Donnaruma to perform in the final round.

“They are two very reliable goalkeepers, different in character and structure: Gigio has a physique, Cragno knows how to read situations and is reactive, both of which are the strong mentality,” goalkeeper coach of U21 national team Antonio Chimenti said.
