DBasia.news – Legendary former Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi said people should not be surprised to see Gianluigi Donnarumma booed by AC Milan fans on his return to the San Siro.
Donnarumma decided not to renew his contract with the Rossoneri last summer and left the club on a free transfer to join Paris Saint-Germain, something that was not well received by fans and was clearly seen during the match at the San Siro between Italy and Spain.
Mino Raiola, the 22-year-old goalkeeper’s agent, was not happy with the treatment of the fans and instead criticized them in his interview with Il Corriere dello Sport. He even questioned why Milan did not release a statement of support for their former star, and the war of words now continues.
Sacchi was one of the guests of honor at the Trento Sport Festival sponsored by La Gazzetta dello Sport, and he was asked about his views on the unpleasant reception the Italy international received upon his return to Milano.
“I’ve never ridiculed anyone in my life, but sometimes people do seek those insults,” said the former Italy and Rossoneri coach.
“The evidence is, there is betrayal. In football and in everyday life, betrayal comes at a price with this kind of treatment. So, there’s no need to be surprised by some shouts of ridicule.”
Milan itself currently has Mike Maignan who has appeared quite impressive since his arrival to the club to replace Donnarumma last summer.
