Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, Barcelona Postpone Clement Lenglet Contract Extension

DBasia.news – Barcelona must delay to extend the contract of their French defender Clement Lenglet. This delay is due to financial shortages experienced by the Blaugrana in the midst of the corona virus pandemic.

The 25-year-old defender still has a contract until June 2023 at Camp Nou. Since his arrival from Sevilla in 2018, his performances have made the Catalunya club want to extend his contract.

Lenglet, who is currently the target of many of Europe’s top clubs, has expressed a desire to be as long as possible in Barcelona. However, he proposed a salary increase requirement of two million euros per season.

“As a soccer player, you will never know what will happen in the future. But I hope that next season will remain in Barcelona,” Lenglet said as quoted by Goal International.

Lenglet has become a core player on the Quique Setien landing team and managed to make 38 appearances in all competitions in the 2019-2020 season.

The same thing happened to goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The German goalkeeper is also still waiting for contract extension talks with Barcelona.

“There has been a meeting between my agent and the club, then the corona virus problem occurred and this is not the time to discuss the contract,” he explained.

“When many people are worried about their lives, we decided to postpone it. I think it’s good in Barcelona,” he continued.
