Dwight McNeil, Manchester United’s alternative if they fail to recruit Jadon Sancho

DBasia.news – Manchester United are still trying hard to bring in Borussia Dortmund wonderkid, Jadon Sancho in this summer transfer window. So far, however, it seems that negotiations are far from reaching an agreement for the two sides.

The Red Devils are reportedly asked to pay 108 million pounds by Dortmund to sign the 20-year-old player. This price is considered to be too high especially considering the current conditions due to the corona virus pandemic.

Sancho had originally agreed to join Man United but Dortmund didn’t want to sell him for less. No doubt Jadon Sancho’s drama has the potential to end in failure. Sancho stays with Dortmund and United would be wary.

However, United still has a plan B if they fail to recruit Sancho. The Express quoted that Man United are targeting Burnley’s 20-year-old winger, Dwight McNeil. In addition to being a winger, McNeil can also be an attacking midfielder.

Uniquely, McNeil can have the same fate as Paul Pogba, a former United academy who was sent back to Old Trafford after performing well at another club. As McNeil knows the former United academy player in 2014 before going to Burnley academy.

His official price is much cheaper than Sancho and United can make up for 20-25 million euros. Last season McNeil appeared in all Premier League matches (38 times) and helped Sean Dyche’s The Clarets finish in 10th place in the standings.

McNeil can be a cheap option for United if they fail to sign Sancho, plus he already knows United’s culture. Besides McNeil, other alternative players are Douglas Costa (Juventus) and David Brooks (Bournemouth).
