DBasia.news – Inter Milan’s new striker, Edin Dzeko recently expressed his feelings about being Romelu Lukaku’s successor.
Turmoil did hit Inter in the transfer market last summer. After being forced to sell Achraf Hakimi due to financial crisis, the Nerazzurri also had to let go of Lukaku.
Initially, Inter intended to defend Lukaku from the pursuit of Chelsea. But La Beneamata could not do much after he asked to be released to London.
Inter’s quick movement was immediately shown after losing Lukaku. One of them is to bring in Dzeko for free from AS Roma.
Inter then also brought in Joaquin Correa. However, from the style of play, Dzeko is more suitable to be plotted as a substitute for Lukaku.
This was also proven in the first three matches of Serie A 2021-2022. Dzeko always appeared as a starter in the spearhead position.
Dzeko answered that belief quite well. He was able to carve one goal and one assist from three matches.
The note is certainly a good start. Dzeko was reluctant on his status as a replacement for Lukaku.
“He (Lukaku) has given a lot to Inter in the last two years. He won the Scudetto and has done a lot,” Dzeko told Amazon Prime.
“But I don’t feel the pressure. I only think about Inter and helping the team.”
Dzeko’s calmness cannot be separated from his busy playing times. Before defending Inter, he had spearheaded Manchester City in England.
The experience certainly helped Dzeko to deal with the pressure. Moreover, he also had a high goal sense during the golden age of his career.
“I see a lot of confidence in myself and that Inter know and think that I can still give a lot. I met Steven Zhang a few years ago in Milan and he asked if I could play for Inter.”
“Last year, I saw it after the game against Inter and they were already champions of Italy. I congratulated him and he told me I could win the Scudetto.”
