Erik ten Hag adds Ronaldo to the Europa League squad

DBasia.news – Cristiano Ronaldo has the opportunity to return after his name was included in the list of players for the fifth matchday of Group E of the Europa League against the Sheriff at Old Trafford Stadium.

Ronaldo was previously suspended from Ten Hag and management when his name was not included in the big match against Chelsea in the English Premier League at the weekend, following his action of leaving the bench against Tottenham Hotspur.

The 37-year-old player has been training with the team since yesterday at Carrington. In his statement to reporters, Ten Hag emphasized that United were not in a difficult period after experiencing various issues, one of which was related to Ronaldo.

“Cristiano will be in the squad tomorrow. It wasn’t challenging, but I think we managed everything, and we answered all the questions. So he was out for one game, and now he’s back in the squad as usual,” Ten Hag said as quoted from the club’s official website.

But when journalists asked questions about Ronaldo, and the talks that had been held with the Portuguese player, Ten Hag was reluctant to answer.

Ten Hag wants to make sure his team could win over Sherrif, so they can catch up with three points behind the leader of the standings, Real Sociedad.

“I will not answer again. So, regarding all the questions, I think we discussed everything last week, we explained everything, so we have to focus on tomorrow’s game. We have an important game, because we want to be number one in the group. So let’s focus on that.”

“Behind all this, we are always continuing the process, working for the team, so we want to have a top sporting culture, and you see and check how you can improve. That’s what we’re going to do.”

Regardless, Ronaldo’s return to the United squad is unlikely to cause speculation over his future ahead of the January transfer window.

Ronaldo’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he could request a transfer at the turn of the year if he remains excluded from the first team. Ronaldo has only started twice in the Premier League this season.
