Espanyol 2-2 Barcelona, This is Ernesto Valverde’s Statement

DBasia.news –  Barcelona had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Espanyol in the Barcelona Derby in the continuing LaLiga match. Barca coach, Ernesto Valverde, assessed that Barca was lacking in the final completion.

Barcelona fell behind in the 23rd minute. David Lopes made the host supporters cheered.

El Barca responded to the goal well. Luis Suarez scored in the 50th minute, and followed by Arturo Vidal’s goal nine minutes later.

However, the disaster for Barcelona came in the 75th minute. El Barca played with 10 players after Frenkie de Jong received a second yellow card.

Winning in the number of players has made Espanyol increasingly eager to hunt for goals. As a result, Wu Lei scored the equalizer two minutes before the match ended. The final score is as strong as 2-2.

These results has disappointed Ernesto Valverde. He considered, Barcelona should be able to end the Espanyol resistance before the match ended.

“In many matches, we often exceled first. We lead in four away games, while in other matches we rise from behind,” Valverde said as reported by Soccerway.

“We have the capacity to respond. However, we cannot always end the match. The red card also has an effect on the match,” said the coach.

Now, Barcelona has the same points as its closest competitor, Real Madrid. Lionel Messi and his colleagues have been waiting for another tough game, that is a duel against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semifinals.
