Marco Silva was dismissed by Everton after handling the club for 18 months. The Portuguese coach was fired as he was unable to bring the club to the top flight. What’s more, the Toffees are now in the relegation zone at 18th place.
Quoted from the club’s official website, Everton club majority shareholders namely Fahid Moshiri, Bill Kenwright and the board of directors would like to thank Marco Silva. They also hoped for the best for the 42-year-old coach.
“Majority Shareholder Farhad Moshiri, Chairman Bill Kenwright and the Board of Directors would like to thank Marco for his service for the past 18 months and wish him the best for his future,”
Instead, Everton also appointed Duncan Ferguson to become the club’s temporary coach.
“Duncan Ferguson has temporarily taken over the first team and will manage the team for the match against Chelsea on Saturday. The club aims to confirm the new permanent manager as soon as possible, “
Marco Silva was dismissed after Everton lost 5-2 on the Merseyside Derby against Liverpool, Thursday (5/12/2019). The defeat also made the Toffees swallow their 9th defeat this season.
