The injury was obtained by Gomes after receiving a horror tackle from Tottenham striker Son Heung-Min. As a result of the action, Son immediately got a red card from referee Martin Atkinson who was in charge of leading the match.

“Andre Gomes will undergo surgery tomorrow (today) after suffering an injury in the match against Tottenham Hotspur. “The Portuguese player must be carried off the field and immediately rushed to hospital by ambulance with the Everton medical team,” wrote a complete statement of The Toffees.

“After undergoing tests at the hospital, Andre Gomes was confirmed to have a broken injury and dislocated his right ankle. The club will continue to provide the latest information regarding Gomes injury.”

Severe injuries suffered by Gomes make it almost certain to be absent until the end of the upcoming 2019-20 season. This is certainly a crushing blow for Everton who is still slumped at the bottom of the Premier League table until Week 11.
