DBasia.news – Norwich City and Sheffield United made it through to the fifth round of the FA Cup when West Ham United was stopped by West Bromwich Albion’s second-tier team.
Norwich, who travel to Burnley’s headquarters, won 2-1 at Turf Moor thanks to goals from Grant Hanley and Josip Drmic that were created in just over four minutes.
After alternately finding each chance denied by the crossbar, Norwich was eight minutes ahead in the second half with Hanley’s header welcoming Mario Vrancic’s free-kick. Four minutes later, Norwich’s lead was doubled thanks to Drmic’s right-footed shot which keeper Joe Hart failed to anticipate.
Since then, Norwich has struggled to maintain their lead before Burnley retaliated through Erik Pieters’ long-range shot in the 71st minute. Teemu Pukki almost completed Norwich’s victory in injury time, but his shot could be countered by Hart. However, Norwich still sauntered to the fifth round after closing the match with a 2-1 victory.
In another match that was held simultaneously, Muhamed Besic broke the deadlock to bring Sheffield United ahead of Milwall in the 62nd minute. Oliver Norwood then ensures victory for Sheffield United to 2-0 in the 84th minute through a shot from outside the penalty box. Sheffield United overtook city rivals, Sheffield, Wednesday, who had already qualified for the fifth round.
West Ham felt a different fate. Playing at home they actually surrendered 0-1 from West Brom due to a mere goal by Conor Townsend.
Whereas in another match, Portsmouth gets rid of Barnsley in a match tainted by a rain of six goals. Ben Close and John Marquis put Portsmouth ahead before Cauley Woodrow cut back on Barnsley, but the hosts moved away through Ronan Curtis and Christian Burgess. Conor Chaplin’s goal in injury time was nothing but entertainment for Barnsley, who lost 2-4 and was knocked out of the FA Cup.
