FA Will Extend Southgate’s Contract

DBasia.news – The Football Association (FA) plans to extend the contract of coach Gareth Southgate due to the England national team performance during the 2018 World Cup.

In the 2018 World Cup, the England national team showed their best performance. For the first time since 1990, The Three Lions joined the semifinal.

In fact, during the two previous editions, the England national team failed to pass the big-six phase. Lately, they just qualified until the quarter-final of the 2006 World Cup.

England national team achievement made Gareth Southgate as the right man to handle The Three Lions. The British public is confident that Southgate can give the result if there’s any chance.

Apparently, the FA hears the British public aspiration. They plan to entrust the future of England national team to Gareth Southgate.

The FA CEO, Martin Glenn, would extend the contract of Gareth Southgate. However, the England national team couldn’t force Southgate if the Premier League wants his service.

“We’d like him to stay beyond 2020 and I think he would like that too but we haven’t spoken about it in any depth because that would be a contract discussion and he’s on holiday now so we’ll talk about that when he gets back,” Glenn said.

“It’s our job to make it competitive to make sure he and all of our people are competitively rewarded. We can never compete with a Premier League club in terms of pay,” Martin Glenn continued.

Aston Villa believed targetting Gareth Southgate from England national team. Let’s see, will Southgate leave The Three Lions?
