FC Barcelona Successfully Recruits Neto from Valencia

Norberto Murara Neto

DBasia.news –  FC Barcelona has successfully brought in a replacement for Jasper Cillessen. Recruited from Valencia, the goalkeeper is named Neto.

The goalkeeper, full name Norberto Murara Neto, will be Barca’s third new signing this summer after Ludovit Reis and Mike van Beijnen – both young players who will be prepared to play in Barcelona B.

As for Neto, he was recruited directly as a replacement for Cillessen, who left Valencia. Both transfers were not in the scheme of player sales but are normal transfers by including the official price.

Cillessen, who has been strengthening Barca since 2016, has expressed his desire to move as he rarely plays and is only a coating for Ter Stegen. The 30-year-old goalkeeper moved to Valencia with a tag of 35 million euros.

Neto’s worth is the same as Cillessen. However, Barca has only paid him 26 million euros and the remaining nine million euros are in the form of variables (money paid if Neto meets several criteria such as the number of appearances and such).

The 29-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper was contracted for four seasons (until 2023) with a purchase clause of 200 million euros. Neto can be a competitive competitor for Ter Stegen because of his great experience playing in Europe.

Neto, which has advantages in terms of speed and quick reaction, has strengthened Fiorentina (2011-2015), Juventus (2015-2017), and Valencia (2017-2019). He also once played for the Brazilian national team.

Not only competitors for Ter Stegen, Neto must also be prepared to accept Ernesto Valverde’s decision if he is also part of the club’s rotation policy. In the last few seasons, Cillessen also rotated playing in the Copa del Rey while Ter Stegen in LaLiga and the Champions League.
