FFP Potentially Revoked by UEFA due to Corona Virus

DBasia.news –  The transfer value of players and the potential for regulatory changes can be given by UEFA due to the ever-increasing epidemic of the corona virus.

The virus, which originated in Wuhan, China, has spread rapidly and forced several countries to be in lockdown. Football in Europe has been postponed until the European Cup, which should take place this year into 2021.

In the midst of the confusion of football fans waiting for when matches in European competitions and leagues take place, the impact of the corona virus also has an effect on changes in player values which made UEFA, the European Football Federation, wants to change regulations for a while.

According to news from Marca, UEFA is considering a discourse to abolish the FFP (Financial Fair Play) regulation for a while. European clubs expect a relief from UEFA related to these rules.

As without income from ticket sales, merchandise sales, and television broadcasting rights, clubs do not have stable financial strength. UEFA is expected to be able to revoke the FFP rules for a while until the world returns to being stable and free of the corona virus.

The FFP rule is given by UEFA so that the European clubs with financial strength can be dominant in the transfer market. The clubs are also expected not to recruit players and make the club financially in a healthy condition.

No doubt in the current situation European clubs are expected to abolish the FFP rules for a while. Revocation of the FFP rules is expected to help reduce other problems caused by corona, namely the player’s transfer value.

Corona Virus Reduces Expensive Player Prices

No income into the club clearly influences their financial strength, especially for clubs whose financial strength is not good enough to rely heavily on revenue from ticket sales and merchandise.

Some clubs have even implemented cuts in player salaries due to this uncertain situation. FIFA offers help for clubs that are experiencing financial difficulties in the middle of the corona outbreak.

This clearly affects the official value of players in the transfer market. It is predicted that player’s value inflation will not occur amid the corona virus due to the decreasing purchasing power of clubs.

“The numbers are inflated and 100 million euros are spent on any player. The story will change and there will be no more recruits like that,” said the Sporting Director.

“The problem is for clubs that recruit more than them, they will never get the money back.”

The nine players who so far have a 100 million euro tag are: Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Philippe Coutinho, Joao Felix, Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Eden Hazard.
