DBasia.news – KUALA LUMPUR: There is no other way for Terengganu FC (TFC) to pay off the target of the state soccer association to win at least one trophy this season besides winning the Malaysia Cup starting next month.

It was because of two trophies, namely the Super League and the FA Cup, had been lost to the hands of Johor Darul Ta’zim and Pahang.

Penyu squad assistant coach Mohamad Nik insisted his team had to do their best in the Malaysian Cup in order to ensure that the management target was achieved.

“Hopefully during the Malaysia Cup we will rise. According to preliminary targets, the management wants a trophy (this season).

“But now two trophies have been missed, so we have to try our best (in Malaysia Cup),” he told a news conference after the Super League action against Selangor at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium last night.

Apart from losing two trophies, Terengganu also faced multiple disappointments when releasing a golden opportunity to run for the Super League runners-up after a 0-2 lead to Selangor.

Following his two major rivals in second place, Perak and Pahang also lost to their respective opponents in the last league action.

However, Mohamad explained that the absence of two midfielder Lee Tuck and Thierry Bin became one of the main factors TFC had to miss three valuable points to the Red Giants.

“Indeed (the big loss missed the second place of the Super League), but actually the absence of Lee Tuck and Bin affected us a lot.

“We are in the match under the actual ability. If you look in terms of chance (in front of the goal), indeed Selangor is eligible to win this game tonight, “he said.
