DBasia.news – Fiorentina officially fired coach Vincenzo Montella after the 1-4 defeat of AS Roma.
“ACF Fiorentina announced that Vincenzo Montella has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team,” the club’s official statement said.
“The club wants to thank Vincenzo Montella for his efforts and commitment in the past few months, and we wish him success in the next round of his career.”
That decision was inevitable. Because since returning to the Artemio Franchi Stadium on April 10, Montella took Fiorentina to swallow 13 of the 24 total club appearances under his care.
He can only secure 19 points from a maximum of 72 points. Including one point in their last six rounds of matches, when they scored the equalizer last minute when they met Inter Milan last week.
Montella was brought back to Firenzo by the Della Valle brothers and confirmed his work when President Rocco Commisso bought the club in the summer.
The first choice to replace Montella actually fell to Luciano Spalleti, a Fiorentina fan figure, but he is still contracted by Inter Milan and needs to break the contract before signing a new contract.
