DBasia.news – The search and rescue team captain David Barker has suspended the search operation of Cardiff City new striker after the plane lost contact at Channel Islands.
“My team have just met to review the search and rescue operation which has been underway since the plane disappeared on Monday night,” said Guernsey Police at Sky Sports.
“Despite the best efforts of air and search assets from the Channel Islands, UK and France, which has covered an area of approximately 1,700 square miles – with a significant amount of this searched more than once – and having examined mobile phone data and satellite imagery, we have been unable to find any trace of the aircraft, the pilot or the passenger.”
“There has been over 24 hours of continuous searching, with 80 hours combined flying time across three planes and five helicopters. Two lifeboats have also been involved, as well as assistance from various passing ships and fishing boats.”
“We reviewed all the information available to us, as well as knowing what emergency equipment was on board, and have taken the difficult decision to end the search. The chances of survival at this stage are extremely remote. My thoughts go out to the family of the pilot and passenger at this most difficult of times,” said the statement.
As we know, Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson lost the radar at Channel Islands when they were flying from Nantes, France, to Cardiff, Wales.
Sala is the transfer record-breaking player just signed from Nantes worth £18M. Romina, Sala’s sister, hopes the search continues despite the suspended operation.
From her deepest heart, she hopes Sala is still fighting to live amid extreme weather and sea condition at Channel Islands.
“Please please don’t stop the search. We thank the club and the people who have been looking for Emiliano, but please please please don’t stop the search,” Romina said.
“Down in my heart I know that Emiliano, who is a fighter, is still alive, and Emiliano and the pilot are somewhere in the middle of the Channel and they are not going to give up.”
Romina Isn’t Alone
Romina isn’t the only person with this hope. Some football figures led by Lionel Messi also uttered the same thing. Besides Messi, the compatriot like Sergio Aguero and Nicolas Otamendi also said the same thing.
Axel Witsel, Florian Thauvin, and Fabio da Silva also support the family wishing that the authority would continue the search.
Here are their statements:
Lionel Messi: “While there is a possibility, even a shred of hope, we ask don’t stop searching.”
Nantes: “This search mustn’t stop. The club and its supporters strongly ask for the search to find @EmilianoSala1 to go on, for his family and his near relatives. Together for Emi!”
Sergio Aguero: “We don’t want to give up, we want to hold on to hope. That’s why I also wish #NoDejenDeBuscar – don’t call off the search. From the start, my thoughts have been with Emiliano, his family and friends #PrayForSala.”
Nicolas Otamendi: “Hi, I’m Nicolás Otamendi. I’d like to express my sympathies to Emiliano’s family, and urge the police to keep searching for the plane. There’s still hope to find them alive. All my support to his family, and let’s hope they get an answer urgently.”
Gonzalo Higuain: “I ask all the people of the world to continue the search for Emiliano Sala until the last moment. There is no stopping and you have to go to the end. Thank you.”
Fabio da Silva: “#prayforsala please @GuernseyPoliceFabio Da Silva.”
Alex Witsel: “My thoughts and prayers with the family and friends of Emiliano Sala.”
Florian Thauvin: “For Sala, for his family and loved ones, the search cannot stop! We must encourage the police to continue the search! Sala is a warrior, you have to believe in him.”
