DBasia.news –  French wing forward, Franck Ribery, will follow in the footsteps of his team mate, Arjen Robben, by leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Ribery, along with Robben, has been a loyal steward of Bayern over the past decade and has won eight Bundesliga titles, five DFB-Pokals, one Champions League. Ribery has spent 12 years with Bayern since joining from Olympique Marseille in 2007.

The 36-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Boulogne academy product had no intention of playing longer with Bayern, while giving young players the chance to take action at Bayern – regenerating the squad.

“When I came to Bayern, it was like a dream that had come true. It would not be easy to say goodbye. But, we will never forget what we have achieved together,” Ribery said on Bayern’s official website.

“I won more than 20 trophies and of course, I hope we can add to the Bundesliga title and DFB-Pokal at the end of the season. It will be great for me personally and of course, for my family and fans.”

“When I joined Bayern, the relationship is great. I always want to do special things for fans when I play. I always want to play well as it feels great when wearing this jersey.”

“Fans know I have a heart and I am also honest, we always have a good relationship. It’s great to think I’ve been here for 12 years and it’s challenging for me and the fans, but we can’t forget the things we experienced together,” said the Frenchman.

A special testimonial match will be made for Ribery-Robben in 2020. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, CEO of Bayern, confirmed it and thanked him for his two great contributions to history with Bayern.

“Franck and Arjen are great players. FC Bayern owes a lot to both of them and we will give them a very great and emotional farewell. They helped form FC Bayern’s most successful last decade with fantastic football,” added Rummenigge.
