Fred, Carrick Reincarnation in Man United?

DBasia.news – Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho thinks Fred isn’t just the successor of Michael Carrick. The Special One sees the Brasilian player as the key player of the central field of The Red Devils this season.

Michael Carrick decided to retire at the end of 2017/2018 season. As a result, Manchester United looked for the successor of the British player.

The search resulted in the finding of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk. The 25-year-old player joined Old Trafford worth 53 million euro.

Though anticipated to replace Carrick’s position in the central field, Mourinho denies it. He said no one can replace Carrick.

“People like Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba, even Ander Herrera, are physical and strong midfielders,” Mourinho quoted by Soccerway.

“We think that players like Fred, and Andreas Pereira, are more technical, passing and playing in short spaces and maybe connecting with the attacking players,” The Special One insisted.

“We thought Fred could be an important player for us but let’s wait. There is no successor for Michael Carrick,” Mourinho said.
