French Player Deserves the Ballon d’Or Instead of Modric

DBasia.news –  Edinson Cavani thinks the Ballon d’Or trophy should go to a French player, not Luka Modric.

Modric is the favorite candidate for the first time ever since 2007, because Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo won’t achieve that title.

Real Madrid midfielder, Modric, played a key role in three consecutive victories in the Champions League and led Croatia in the 2018 World Cup final round with the 2-2 defeat against France.

Previously, due to his achievement, Modric got the Best Men Player of FIFA 2018.

But, Cavani believes Madrid defender Raphael Varane, Atletico striker Antoine Griezmann, and his teammate in PSG Kylian Mbappe deserve the Ballon d’Or after bringing Les Bleus to its victory in 2018 World Cup.

“Varane may well be there, Griezmann, Mbappe… I think a Frenchman should win, there are other players who could, but it should be a Frenchman, they have won the World Cup,” Cavani said.

“Modric has had a great season, but his team-mate Varane won the Champions League and the World Cup, Modric was a finalist and had a great campaign, but Varane deserves it more,” Cavani said.
