DBasia.news – Arsenal successfully started the Premier League 2020/2021 season smoothly. Visiting Fulham’s headquarters at Craven Cottage, the Gunners won a landslide victory with a score of 0-3. And two things that stole the attention in the match emerged from the two newest recruits from Cannon London who debuted at Fulham.
Mikel Arteta played a number of new recruits. Willian accompanied Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front. Meanwhile, Gabriel Magalhaes was at the heart of the defense.
However, Gabriel made a mistake that almost became a goal for the hosts. In the 2nd minute, Gabriel let Ainsley Maitland-Niles pass for Bernd Leno to be pursued by Neeskens Kebano. Luckily, Leno lunged quickly.
Arsenal, who had difficulty developing their game at the start of the first half, started attacking. In fact, the Gunners was able to score a goal in the 8th minute.
There was chaos in front of Fulham’s goal after Willian fired a shot that Marek Rodak was able to stop. Lacazette grabbed a wild ball to score a goal.
This goal made Fulham try to increase the intensity of the attacks. However, Arsenal’s cooperation in midfield and the speed of the attackers meant that Fulham was unable to totally suppress.
Arsenal almost doubled the lead in the 27th minute. Willian almost scored Arsenal’s first goal from a free kick. However, his shot still hit the goal post.
Arsenal continued to threaten Fulham’s goal in the 37th minute. Aubameyang chested Kieran Tierney’s pass. Then, he opened fire. However, the action was still able to be suppressed by Rodak.
Until the end of the first half, no more goals were scored. Arsenal entered the locker room with a 1-0 advantage.
Entering the second half or rather the 49th minute, Arsenal scored again. In particular, the goal was scored by a new player, Gabriel, and was an assist from Willian.
The goal came from a Willian’s corner. Gabriel struck the ball with a header. Rodak was unable to ward off the ball.
That way, Gabriel is the 10th player to score on his Premier League debut for Arsenal, and the first to do so in an away game since Thomas Vermaelen in August 2009 against Everton.
Arsenal increasingly had the upper hand after Aubameyang scored a goal in the 57th minute. Through a fast counterattack, Aubameyang’s individual action ended with a goal. Again, Willian played the role of bait.
With this assist, Willian became the first player to provide two assists on his debut for Arsenal in the Premier League since Ray Parlor in August 1992 against Liverpool.
Behind three goals, Fulham has made changes. Aleksandar Mitrovic and Andre Anguissa come on for Aboubakar Kamara and Neeskens Kebano.
However, Fulham was unable to develop much. In fact, in the 71st minute, Arsenal almost returned to shake the Cottagers’ net. Luckily, Rodak saved the ball that Aubameyang gave to Lacazette.
In the end, Arsenal was able to maintain a 3-0 lead. The Gunners took home three points to the Emirates Stadium.
