DBasia.news – The 33-year-old Chelsea defender, Gary Cahill, claimed he was upset and did not have respect for his manager, Maurizio Sarri. Cahill left at the end of the season after rarely playing this season.
The former Bolton Wanderers defender has rarely played this season and has only been given several chances in the Europa League and Premier League. Cahill could not understand the way Sarri treated him.
Cahill, who has been playing for Chelsea since 2012, thinks he should get more respect because of the status of a senior player and team captain. Straightforwardly, Cahill claimed to have no respect for Sarri.
“I know how the club as a whole work, I have a good relationship with all players and staff, and again these things are not considered. If you don’t play as a player, any player, for two or four matches, then you are given no reason to this,” Cahill said to the Sky Sports.
“But, if you don’t play for eight or nine matches, then you have to explain the situation, what is happening? But the manager doesn’t do it. I see many situations with players who have won titles with Chelsea, not just myself. and this is not true.”
“It makes it increasingly difficult for me to respect someone (Sarri) who does not appreciate what has been achieved, some of us, with the club,” said the Aston Villa academy product.
Cahill will leave on a free transfer and he leaves the club with sadness because he rarely plays this season.
“Personally, this season is very bad for me. I will erase this season’s memory from my memories when I left Chelsea. Because, my last memory at Chelsea was when I won the FA Cup title in 2018,” Cahill added.
“It’s very difficult to accept this. I have played regularly for the previous six seasons, and I have won everything with Chelsea, just being a spectator from the stands is something I didn’t expect.”
So, how did Sarri respond to the comments from Cahill? The calm Italian manager responded and seeing Cahill’s words was not important.
“I don’t know what the situation is, so I want to apologize. However, the criticism that Cahill made was not important to me, because during this season Cahill was very professional,” Sarri replied.
“He only played five, six or seven matches, but he is an important figure at the training ground, and while in the Chelsea dressing room.”
During Chelsea’s defense, Cahill was fortunate enough to feel two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, one League Cup, Champions League, and Europa League.
“I feel happy with the opportunity to say goodbye to the supporters. The moment for me to go down before the end of the match is something extraordinary and I can thank you for a career that I think is extraordinary with this team,” Cahill concluded.
