Gerard Pique Hopes La Liga will not resume soon

DBasia.news – Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique hopes the Spanish League Agency (LFP) will not rush to continue the 2019-2020 season competition. The Spaniard has asked for additional time for players to exercises before the competition resumes.

Currently, LFP is targeting to re-launch the competition on June 12. The clubs participating in the top caste competition have also received permission to hold a training session again.

“I understand LaLiga’s desire to finish the competition this season. We actually also did not want to continue the competition without the presence of the audience. However, completing the competition prematurely is not a good idea, “Gerard Pique told Movistar.

“However, we have been on vacation for too long and not once held a trial match. The players also only have one month to return to training.”

“Therefore, I ask LaLiga to give the players extra time to practice. So, the players can avoid severe injuries and can prepare themselves better, “concluded Gerard Pique.

Pique and Barcelona themselves have held training sessions since May 9. This training session was held a little differently because the players still had to obey the physical distancing rules applied by the Spanish government.

Before the competition was suspended, Barcelona still controlled the top of the Spanish League standings. Quique Setien’s troops managed to collect 58 points. Two points ahead of Real Madrid who stalked in second place.
