Germany Chancellor Respects Ozil’s Retirement
By news-admin
DBasia.news – Mesut Ozil took a big decision related to his critics from Germany. Ozil chose to end his journey with Germany national team and retired.
Ozil, 29, was retiring with the total 92 caps and 23 goals from Germany national team that he has been playing with since 2009. His biggest achievement was when Germany got the 2014 World Cup victory. Since then, Germany public often criticized Ozil’s performance.
The situation became worse when he, along with Iklay Gundogan and Cenk Tosun took a picture with Turkey president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, just days before the 2018 World Cup.
The Turkey player was considered unfaithful to Germany that boosted his name. After Germany kicked out in the World Cup, the situation became more intense. Ozil was the one to blame for Die Mannschaft failure and cornered by some Germany legends and Deutscher Fußball-Bund e.V.
“Ozil has been playing s*** for years. He won his last tackle before the 2014 World Cup,” Hoeness said.
But there were also support to Ozil. Three of them were from popular figures: Jerome Boateng, Hector Bellerin, and Germany chancellor, Angela Merkel.
“Surreal that someone who has done so much for his country on and off the pitch has been treated with such disrespect. Well done @MesutOzil1088 for standing up to this behavior!” Bellerin wrote on his Twitter account.
“The chancellor values Mesut Ozil highly. He is a footballer who has contributed a great deal to the national team,” said Merkel’s spokesperson, Ulrike Demmer.
