Germany Legend Predicts France Go Down After the 2018 World Cup

DBasia.news – Germany national team legend, Lothar Matthaus isn’t sure that France will repeat the success, even though they just won the 2018 World Cup. Matthaus assumed, Les Bleus didn’t deliver a great performance.

France got the world champion title after winning against Croatia 4-2 in the final round of 2018 World Cup in Luzhniki Stadium, Sunday (15/7).

The Rooster goals were presented by Mario Mandzukic (18′, own goal), Antoine Griezmann (38′), Paul Pogba (59′), and Kylian Mbappe (65′). While Croatia scored two goals through Ivan Perisic (28′) and Mario Mandzukic (69′).

This achievement got the experts predicted France bright future for the nest years. Moreover, the Didier Deschamps squad is full of experienced and promising young players like Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba, and Antoine Griezmann. But Matthaus refused the opinion.

“I do not believe that the French will establish an era. The team did not adopt any style or convince with fascinating football,” said Matthaus to Bild.

The Inter Milan former player continued. “They did not push their opponents to the edge.”

Matthaus’ statement is similar to what Belgium goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois said after his team loss 1-0 during the semifinal round. The player said France was playing negative football by piling up too many players in the defensive line.
