DBasia.news – The midfielder who recently left AC Milan, Giacomo Bonaventura, has asked his former club to retain Zlatan Ibrahimovic for next season.
According to Bonaventure, Zlatan’s presence had revived the Rossoneri’s dim spirits.
Bonaventura said it was very important for Milan to continue to rely on the Swedish legend even though he was no longer productive.
Since joining the San Siro last January, Zlatan has been an integral part of Milan’s rise to the point of being able to close the 2019/20 season in the Europa League spot. Zlatan’s glory also resulted in a permanent contract for coach Stefano Pioli, who was predicted to be overthrown by Ralf Rangnick.
In Bonaventura’s eyes, Zlatan could always be counted on in the club’s difficult times.
“When he came, he brought enthusiasm to the players and a hunger that disappeared from us for a while,” said Bonaventura.
“I was not in good shape after the injury, but when I saw Zlatan walk through the door it made us want to break down every barrier,” stated the midfielder.
“We are the oldest in the squad, but he always jokes, I am older than him, even though I am not older than him!” added Bonaventure.
“Zlatan receives the respect from everyone at this club with his hard work and performances on the pitch,” he continued.
“He’s a smart guy, a fun person, and you know that he can be counted on to overcome tempestations in difficult times like this,” he explained.
Bonaventura stated, collaborating with Zlatan is like playing with fire because each player has to be more thorough and nimble, all for the good of the team.
“Working with Ibra during training is like an earthquake. You must always be vigilant,” concluded the 31-year-old player.
Like Bonaventura, Zlatan also has his contract expire in Milan this month. There has been no official announcement regarding the contract extension for the former Barcelona, PSG and Manchester United striker.
Since his time Milan last January, Zlatan has made 20 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and five assists.
