The victory was picked by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the first leg of the Champions League last 16-round. At Manchester United’s own turf, Gianluigi Buffon and friends won 2-0.

On paper, the victory made PSG almost certainly advance to the quarter-finals. That’s because Manchester United is like carrying out an impossible mission in the second leg at the Parc des Princes. A total of 34 teams that lost at home with a difference of two goals or more in the first leg of the Champions League knockout phase always failed to qualify for the next round.

Nevertheless, Gianluigi Buffon asked PSG not to be lulled by the sensational victory. According to him, vigilance must be carried high because Manchester United will not just give up.

“A victory was achieved thanks to the teamwork on a very difficult field. Even so, let’s not relax the focus. On March 6, Manchester United will come to Paris to try to turn things around. We must be very prepared, “explained Gianluigi Buffon.

Regarding the main recipe behind the victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, the veteran Italian goalkeeper who recorded his 50th clean sheet in the Champions League victory at Old Trafford pointed to one thing. That is compactness.

“We made the game look easy. That’s how it is. However, we do it by mobilizing all the strength for 90 minutes. Solidarity is a fundamental thing in this competition,” he explained.
