Gianluigi Buffon’s decision before retirement: Want to Strengthen the Italian national team
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Before retiring as a Juventus player and the Italian national team, Gianluigi Buffon expressed his desire to play once more to strengthen the Italian national team. Currently, he is also only willing to be the second choice to become a Juventus goalkeeper.
The legendary Italian and Juventus goalkeeper returned to Turin and returned to costumed the Bianconeri in the 2019/20 season as a coating for Wojciech Szczesny, having spent the previous season at Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite being 41 years old, Buffon has not shown any signs of decline and in fact, this season has recorded two appearances from seven Juventus matches in Serie A.
“Quite true, some people were initially confused by my decision to accept this new role (upholstery at Juventus),” Buffon said as quoted by Football Italia.
“But I realize the only club where I can accept the role of the second choice is Juventus. I look forward to it and prove it true.”
“I am happy to be able to return to the dressing room with my teammates, embrace the fans and club directors, all the people with me both on and off the pitch. That is why I made this decision.”
Roberto Mancini as coach of the Italian national team is currently opening opportunities for him to return to appear at the international level and Buffon is also eager to use that moment as the final point in his career before entering the new world.
“I thank Mancini, who is always kind to me,” he continued. “If the federation and Mancini had that idea, I would accept it as a moment to end my career as a player.”
