DBasia.news – Napoli and club president, Aurelio De Laurentiis have announced the arrival of Giovanni Simeone from Hellas Verona.
Simeone, a former Fiorentina and Cagliari striker, scored 17 goals in 35 Serie A games in the 2021/22 season. Thanks to his slick performance, he was attracted by a number of clubs, including Napoli.
The Argentine joined the Partenopei on an initial loan deal as well as an obligation to buy if Luciano Spalletti’s squad qualify for the 2022/23 Champions League this season.
Simeone will replace Dries Mertens, who left the Stadio Maradona at the end of his contract in June.
De Laurentiis and Napoli confirmed the deal on Twitter, welcoming ‘El Cholito’ to the club.
Napoli will also soon welcome Giacomo Raspadori from Sassuolo and Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham Hotspur before the summer transfer window closes.
