Giroud Targeted by Inter Milan and Lazio, Chelsea Extended His Contract

DBasia.news – English Premier League club Chelsea are reported to have used their option to extend the contract of French national team player Olivier Giroud until 2021.

This new deal is a bad news for Inter Milan. As is known, the Nerazzurri hopes to bring it for free next summer.

Inter have even been interested in proposing to Giroud since the January transfer window. But at that time Chelsea were reluctant to release it on loan.

Chelsea’s decision to extend Giroud’s contract is arguably quite surprising. The French striker has rarely had the chance to appear since Frank Lampard was appointed manager earlier this season.

Giroud’s fortune began to change since Chelsea’s main striker Tammy Abraham was injured in January. Since then he began to be given the opportunity to appear.

The 33-year-old attacker also returned the trust to the maximum. Giroud successfully scored two goals in four matches in the Premier League.

But this agreement is considered just a trick of Chelsea so as not to lose his players for free. Giroud is believed to be included in the sale list next summer.

In addition, there is an assumption that Chelsea do not want to lose players during the pandemic. They are afraid of not being able to buy a replacement because of financial conditions.
